NORTH DEVON COMMUNITY LOTTERY HITS FUNDRAISING MILESTONE
The North Devon Community Lottery has hit another fundraising milestone, three months on from its launch.
The lottery has now raised more than £10,000 for charities and good causes across the district since its inaugural draw in April.
North Devon Council launched the lottery to create a new funding stream for local causes, while offering supporters the chance to win cash prizes along the way.
There are currently 79 good causes raising funds through the lottery, including charities, community groups and sports clubs. Each receives 50p of every £1 ticket they sell while a further 10p goes into the lottery’s central fund, which will be distributed to good causes. The other 40p goes towards prize money and running costs.
A jackpot of £25,000 is up for grabs each week, as well as other cash prizes of £2,000, £250 and £25. To date, the lottery has delivered more than £3,300 in prize money to supporters.
Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor David Clayton, said: “We are thrilled that the North Devon Community Lottery has raised such a fantastic amount for local good causes in its first few months and hope that we can raise so much more through the platform over the coming months and years.
“The money raised is a testament to the generosity of our community and their commitment to supporting our valuable local causes, so I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has bought tickets since the lottery’s launch.”
